Country of Macedonia has no access to the sea and located in the South-Western Europe at Balkan Peninsula. The highest point of Macedonia is Korab, 2753 m above sea level. The climate of the country is temperate-continental. During the year the days are mostly sunny (200 days per year).

There are a lot of Christian churches here: fortress of Samuil XI c., ex monastery of St. Panthelemon of IX c. Church of St. Jovan Caneo, which became mosque, was built in XIII c.

Struve city is in 15 km distance from Ochrid, and located on the river of Black Drim. This river connects Ochrid Lake with Adriatic Sea. There are held a lot of festivals in the city: famous poetic festivals when the poets declare their poetry from the special bridge, besides annual international fair of folk Crafts. The buildings have beautiful red tile roofs and are surrounded by lush gardens and vineyards.

During Christmas holidays in Vevchani place near the Struve being held New Year Christian cranaval with festivities.

The city pleases the sun 240 days per year. Lake of Prespan located at the border with Albania. There is Desert Island in the middle of the lake called Golem Grad or Snake Island with ruins of St. Peter Monastery.

National cuisine will be liked even by gourmet. The main specialty is chopped meet in Turkish style. One of the most common dishes is “gravche na tavche” – beans, stewed on special frying pan and famous trout from Ochrid Lake.
