About Slovenia: Slavic Europe

In southern part of central Europe comfortable settled small, but extremely beautiful Slovenia, bordered with 4 states: Italy, Hungary, Croatia and Austria. Country has Adriatic seaside.

In Slovenia you will find everything: Alps, Adriatic seaside and amazing lakes, thermal springs and wild nature-all these create countries unique atmosphere.

During the year are functioning thermal and mineral water sanatoriums offered treatment and prevention of different health problems. There are three climatic zones in Slovenia: Temperate-continental, Mediterranean and Alpine. Quite mild winter (in average from −2°C up to +5°C) and warm summer (from +23 up to +25 °C).

Countries capital is Ljubljana and is located at the Ljubljanice River.

People settled at this place before our era. In accordance with the legend Jason has defeated the dragon exactly at this place and it’s became emblem of the city. Besides one of the road bridge is named “4 dragons”. Inspite of several earthquakes Ljubljana has kept medieval spirit. Old part of the city is pedestrian zone. Presherna square is famous because of three in one bridges, designed by Joze Plecnik: three bridges are diverged as a fan. There is the favorite place for romantic dates. The most old Ljubljanas street is named Fisherman’s street.

Great fountain of Robe in baroque style was built in 18 century and is located near city municipality. At the city’s bazar you could see unusual arcades by Jozi Plecnik, variety of shelves with fruits, flowers and greenery.

St. Nikolay church in baroque style is considered as architecture masterpiece with unique marble altar.

Ljubljana Castle returns time back and takes you into the 16th century. It often hosts concerts, festivals and even weddings.

Famous impressionist’s pictures are available at the National Gallery. After the city tour is pleasant to rest in Tivoli Park. Slovenian medical spa resorts with mineral springs meets any European standards and attracts a lot of tourists wishing to cure different disease or just get through preventive course. Bled is the lake, the city, plus luxurious spa resort hotels, easily competing with leading European countries. Tamed swans and ducks, cleanest lake water (swimming season lasts from June to mid-September), boating on local gondolas-pletny, different festivals, congresses and concerts, provide Bled’s special popularity. Also, should be mentioned a small island in the middle of the lake with the church, like a fairy tale.

The mandatory and most unusual for tourists is Fortress on the rocks with medieval chemist’s shop and printing house, in wine cellar you could cork the bottles by yourself. Gulf and horse riding are the most favorite ways of relaxation for Bled visitors.

Near the Bled kale is situated alpine Bohinj Lake. Here comes a lover of secluded rest in order to find peace away from the bustling European civilization. Biking around the lake, speed-boats tours, hike to a waterfall Savica, that’s just a small list of activity types vacation on Lake Bohinj.

Extreme sport types lovers have a wide range of activities: alpinism, rafting, canyoning, paragliding etc.

The most popular skiing resorts are Bovets, Kranska Gora, Maribosky Pokhorie and other.

Slovenian cuisine visit card is considered dessert “Creamna rezina”. This is a magic cake with two different types of creams. Other popular sweeties are walnut loaf “Potica”, apple-cheese pie “Gibanica” and Strudel “Zavitek”.

Specialty of the house is sausage with horseradish, chicken paprikash with red béchamel sauce and of course Snezhani mushrooms local truffles. Different type of dumplings, especially cheese and walnut ones are very popular in Slovenia.

Typical spirits are “Willyamovka” (peach Rakia) and liquor “Pletershka Grushka” with peach pieces n each bottle.
